Interpretations

I hope that everyone is having a great start to a new year!  The new year is always great for fresh goals and new ideas.  I have so many ideas that I want to get going this year.  My mind is going faster than I can keep up with! 

I have started experimenting with the idea of digital painting.  In respect to the artists who use the real paint medium, I have decided to call this "Interpretations".  It's my digital interpretation of a photographic image rather than calling it a painting. 

Here is one example that I have created.  The image is a photo that I took while on a trip to Seattle.

A Beautiful Family Inside and Out

I have known this family for a long time now and I can't tell you how much I enjoy being around them.  They are such a great example of how families should be. They are wonderful role models to their friends, neighbors, and their community.  I know they will deny this fact...they always do, but A family really are.  Thank-you again.  You are such great friends to me and my family. 

Classic Brother and Sister

Tis the seasons for classic portraits!  I have had many requests for these classic styles that are timeless and can be cherished by the families forever.  I really enjoy this style because it brings me back to the basics.  This brother and sister were a dream to work with.  You don't have to make googly faces, chase them around with the camera, and bring out the rubber chicken toy and puppets!  However, I do like those days as well.  I think they were more entertained by me than anything...climbing on the ladder and standing on my couch in my little studio.  It was a great session and I enjoyed it.  I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did.  Thanks P!  I will get your book to you very soon!

A Handsome Little Gent...

I have the honor of watching this little guy grow through the images that his mother allows me to capture.  He has now gone from a little baby to a handsome, but quite the busy little toddler.  I love the style of clothing that his mom puts on him for his portrait sessions.  It's fun when people take me back to the classic styles that sometimes gets lost in our current days.  The other day I had the privilege of listening to two young men performing some classic songs from the past.  For me these young guys fit up there with Harry Connick Jr. and Michael Buble', two men who love to sing the classics.  They are my favorite!  Thanks J for letting me watch your little guy grow!

 

 

Clara's Dream...

   It is Christmas Eve and the Stahlbaums are hosting a grand party in their home.  Herr Drosselmeyer presents Clara with a beautiful Nutcracker!  Later that evening after all the guests departed, Clara, worried about her beloved Nutcracker, sneaks to check on him.  She falls asleep with him in her arms.  

  Clara dreams of her Nutcracker turning into a handsome prince.  She encounters soldiers, mice and their King, and takes a journey with the handsome prince to the Land of Snow, the Land of Sweets, and an enchanted forest wonderland!  

   She is welcomed by the dancing snowflakes and greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy.  Clara is in awe as she watches the beautiful dancers come alive before her!  The Spanish, the Arabians, the Russians, The Chinese, the Mirlitons, the Waltz of the Flowers all celebrating the daring battle of the Prince and the army of mice! 

   Clara's journey soon comes to an end as she watches a beautiful Pas De Deux with the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier. 

   Clara awakens from her dream and finds herself by her Christmas tree with her beloved Nutcracker.

Do we dream in black and white?

Park City Urban

   I have been thinking very hard trying to find a new word for "Urban".  It is used so much in the photography world these days but for good reason.  There really is no other "cool" word to describe this type of style.  I have tried all kinds of words but nothing seems to fit.  If there is...please feel free to share it with me. For now...it's urban.

   I really enjoyed spending time with this family and exploring around town.  This family wanted something different from the usual fall colors so we went into town and captured some of the unique spots that the town has to offer.  Even though I have done sessions in town, each time it presents a new undiscovered spot for my camera. 

   Thank-you so much H family.  I really enjoyed it.  It's fun watching your family grow!

In addition to an earlier post..."Eight is Great!"

While taking pictures of an eight year old for her baptism, I also took pictures of her siblings and her family.  Here is one I would like to share of the three kids that I didn't include in the original post.  This is a pretty image of the three children.

 

The Last Days of Green

As I look outside my window, it is hard to believe that summer has come and gone and the beautiful Fall that we have had this year has passed us by.  It snowed today.  Though the snow will not stick through the weekend...there will, however, be a permanent blanket of white until next April.  This is the last session that I have done in the warm sun.  This was the family's backyard and it was perfect.  The sun peeked through the trees and gave us just enough light.  The grass was green and the foliage was very pretty.  What an ideal backyard for a family portrait! Eight is Great!

   I had two back to back baptism sessions and they were both so enjoyable.  They were both done at the same location but the two personalities could not have been any different.  First of all, one is a boy and one is a girl.  Enough said.  But, no matter how different these kids are from each other, they are both wonderful and really fun.  I have known both of these kids since they were very little and how fun it is to see them growing up.  Not to take away from each session, but I am going to put these images together in one entry.  Thanks P and B families for trusting me in such an important moment in their lives.
